Another parcel arrives!
Class 5 came back to school after the Easter holidays to find another parcel from Norway! It had lots of photographs of the children in their school and some drawings they had made for us too. We really enjoyed looking at the photographs, comparing their school to ours!

A parcel from Norway

The package from Norway.
Today we opened the package from Class 5 Kirkevoll skole in Bergen, Norway.
It was so exciting!
We thought their English was very good. We couldn't write in Norwegian so well.
We found out that it was snowy there, so we went outside to show them what the weather has been like here too.
Watch us open the package in the video.
Thank you to the three classes at Kirkevoll.
We hope you watch the video and leave some comments.
We already have lots of ideas for what we want to send back to you!

Murder Mystery
On Wednesday morning the pupils of Class 5 arrived at school to discover that a terrible crime had been committed in their classroom! They had to use their detective skills to work out who had murdered poor Hughie. Watch our powerpoints to find out more.

Christmas Songs from Norway
Every year in Orkney we have visitors from Norway at the time of the community tree lighting events.
This year we have been practising some Norwegian Christmas songs and we sang with the Norwegian musicians when they visited us at school to help us get ready for our own school tree lighting.
You can hear us singing along with them in Norwegian here.

Preparing for a Norwegian Christmas
We have been learning a few Norwegian words and a Christmas song with the Norwegian exchange students. We will be lighting the school Christmas tree and singing the song the same week as the community trees are being lit.
We also tasted gingerbread.
This is a traditional Norwegian Christmas food.
The Orkney Song Shop will be coming in to help us learn the song for our tree lighting.
It is called, 'Jeg er sa glad hver julekveld'.
We can see how similar some of the words are and we can understand a few without translation.
